| After running the Access Database Password Recovery the password does not open the database. It gives me two users and the password for admin but not for the second user. The password that is given for the admin does not work. |

Hello,
At the bottom of the program window you can see the Log window. This window stores all events which occurred. You can save it to a text file (right-click and select "Save Log File"). You can also double-click the text and it will appear in Notepad - so you can work with it like with a common text file (copy, paste, edit, save).
Please open your database (MDB) and Workgroup Information file (MDW) in Access Password and post your log here. |

This database is password protected and database password shown in log information.
In order to recover MS Access users passwords (admin, etc) you have to locate your Workgroup Information file and open it in Access Password.
How to find Workgroup information file:
First way to find out the location of your current Workgroup information file:
1. Start your MS Access. (for example: Start – Programs – Microsoft Office – MS Access).
2. Click main menu “Tools”, than “Security” – “Workgroup Administrator”
3. You will see Workgroup Administration dialog and current Workgroup information file path as well
Another way to find Workgroup information file:
1. Start Windows Explorer. (for example: Start – All Programs – Accessories – Windows Explorer)
2. Press Search Toolbar button or press F3.
3. Select “Local Hard Drives…” in “Look in”.
4. Type “*.mdw” or “*.mda” (without quotes) in to the “search for files or folders names” field.
5. Click “Search Now” and wait for the results. |

| I have Office 2007 and the start up page does not give me an option for tools. I do not know where this information would be located on 2007. |

Hello,
What is MS Access requesting from you exactly? (password or user/password combination)
What is the problem exactly? In the fist post you mentioned about user password recovered by Access Password, but according to your log - your database is only password protected, no user-level protection is set.
Moreover there is no user-level security (user level protection) in MS Access 2007. |

| The Access Database asks me for a Name and Password. This is requested from a Logon pop up window when you open any database. I am not sure what the Logon window is associated with. There was a security.mdw file that appeared in the folder with the databases in question. This Security.mdw file was deleted by someone trying to help so I am unable to establish the reason for the file. |

Hello,
Ok, actually there is no user-level security in MS Access 2007 anymore. So there are several known methods used by some users to “emulate” this kind of protection like special VBA scripts and add-ins or some kind of links with old MDW files. But this is information about your local settings and installations not available to us.
There are some things we can recommend you to do: search in Recycle Bin for deleted MDW and recover it back and also search your local disk for any *.MDW files available, may be your MS Access is linked to another MDW.
As to your database: the only thing you need to open it in any standard MS Access system is the password recovered by Access Password. |

| The database I am trying to open is in 2003. I can open the Database if I am logged in on the computer as the administrator only. Once I open the database and go to User & Groups Permissions it does not show the Groups & Users and the Permissions that they have. The logon prompt does not come up when opening from an administrator logon. |

Hello,
It is not part of the database security. Your system is configured in such a way, but it is not related to this database security. Your database is password protected and that is all. All other security features are part of local configuration (Windows file security or user security, etc) in connection with special MS Access configuration or addins.
Please try to open this database using another system (computer).
As it was mentioned above the only thing you need to open database in question in any standard configured MS Access system is password recovered by Access Password. |
