I'm very impressed with the demo version of FOG. You've let us know what algorithms you use for the actual encryption stage of the process. Could you also let us know (in general terms - I don't need source code !) how you take a password and convert it into a key ?
Best regards,
Balder |

We kindly thank you for your favorable review.
FOG “work key” generation algorithm is based on enhanced by FIPS 180-2 (SHA-2) RSA Laboratories RFC2898 algorithm.
According to second general cryptosystem requirement:
“A cipher should be secure when the enemy cryptanalyst knows all details of the enciphering process and deciphering process except for the value of the secret key”;
Auguste Kerckhoffs, ‘La cryptographie militaire’, Journal des sciences militaires, vol. IX, pp. 5–38, Jan. 1883, pp. 161–191, Feb. 1883. |
