SQL and Design Access

Hi,

I have the pro registered version of AP.

I need to get into the back door of the database in order to gain access to the sql and design of the database. The program has revealed all user and password combinations which I have to say proves this as excellent software.

What I need to know tho is how do I bring this database back to the original screens with full MS Access functionality in order to allow changes to the database itself as opposed to just the data stored with in it. All of the menus and tools from the top have been removed. ?

Would appreciate any help.....

Cheers
Ian

If you used the Startup dialog box (Tools menu) or created an AutoExec macro or an Open event procedure (event procedure: A procedure that is automatically executed in response to an event initiated by the user or program code, or that is triggered by the system.) to specify what happens when you open a Microsoft Access application, you can bypass those settings to regain full access to your Access file.

- Hold down the Bypass key (the SHIFT key) while you open the database.
- Depending on the macro security settings, you might see one or more security messages on startup. You must continue to keep the Bypass key pressed until you have closed the security messages.

When trying to open any database on this network. After opening any database file and before anything opens up a login box appears (username + password). If Shift is being held down you cant type a password into this box. What can I do about this?

Thanks
Ian

Enter user name and password as usual, but push and hold down “Shift” key while pressing “OK” button by mouse and later on.

This doesnt work either.

Once you click ok. It then opens up the access file and presents another login screen. Here you must login again and specify which side of the program you wish to enter (Foods or Bonds). Again if you continue to hold shift you cant type in the password... Any suggestions?

Thank you
Ian

It looks like some kind of custom VBA or script based protection.
What is the file size?
Is it possible to send it for examination?

File Size

The file size is 9mb for the main database. Im not sure if its possible to run the database without a data file to go with it also - which is around 2mb. These sizes are for the latest version of the database. The original version 1.0 is only 3mb but may have the same kind of protection on it. What do you suggest?

Theres another side of the database that you can long into which is base (ie office). If you hold down the shift key after entering initial login box(username + password) it will then start the database but limit the top toolbar to ~file~window~help. When you release the shift key it then adds edit~insert~records and adds a small extras bar below that with the likes of direct print, etc. Does this shed anymore light on the issue?

Thanks

AllowBypassKey option is switched off. It is just another strange way to “protect” database.
